India Labour Law: Overtime Calculation
According to the Factories Act, 1948 in India, any worker who works for more than 9 hours in any day or for more than 48 hours in any week is entitled to overtime wages at the rate of twice his ordinary rate of wages.
Spreadover Rules
The period of work including intervals for rest (spreadover) shall not exceed 10.5 hours in any day. This ensures workers have sufficient rest between shifts.
